San Francisco Reunion

As luck would have it, my old friend Keren is living in San Francisco this summer. Tory instigated the whole trip, and we (we being some dear high school friends) found ourselves in San Francisco for a relaxing weekend! We biked the bridge, had lunch in Sausalito, went dancing, stumbled on a street fair, and took 100s of pictures. (This is what happens when you get three aspiring photographers together!)

I left the weekend with a warm feeling. I am a big fan of the "Sunscreen Song." It is the closest thing I have to a personal creed. There is a line that says "Work hard to bridge the gaps in geography and lifestyle, because the older you get the more you need the people who knew you when you were young." Now I don't really feel old, and I don't feel like I "need" to get in touch with the past. With that said, it was wonderful to be with old friends. I felt a little closer to past I had forgotten and a little closer to wonderful people I have spent to much time away from. Reunions should happen more often!

Relaxation, a Birthday, Whidbey

Our dear friends, Brian and Robin invited us to a little piece of heaven to celebrate Brian's upcoming birthday! How fortunate are we!?! Robin's family owns and rents* a little bungalow on Penn Cove. A warm fire, yummy food (I am still dreaming of Brian's ribs), tons of blankets, and such wonderful friends made the weekend! We hiked, walked, read, played a little Catch Phrase, the boys shot arrows, other boys chased the arrows, and spent time relaxing.

You'll also notice a disproportionate number of shots of, on, and from the ferry. Having grown up in Arizona, I think they are a novelty that hasn't worn off! I love them; I will spend more money and take twice as long to get anywhere if we can take a ferry!

Mexico and Oldies but Goodies!

After having stayed away for a while, I decided it was high time for me to get back to the southwest. Maggie, MacKenzie, and Tory picked me up at the airport and we high-tailed it to Macayos for some Baja sauce. Sauce Nirvana! The next day we headed to Mexico! We spent the weekend drinking and Margaritas and various other frozen concoctions, swimming, and laying in the sun! Jimmy along with his sous chefs prepared amazing meals! We enjoyed Mangos with hot live sauce, banana boats (although not that much), and water slides. It was so wonderful to spend some uninterrupted time with such good, old friends. Sigh. Wish we were still there!

Portland

A Visit to Portland gave me a chance to head south before heading further south to Mexico! A touch of spring mixed with snow, rain, and wind gusts, made for a relaxing weekend with a good friend. I attempted to take reflection pictures of us in various windows around The Pearl...in the first dozen we simply did not reflect! Cars next to us, yes. Trees, flowers, and random dogs, yes. Us, no. A few dozen shots later, we reflected!
