Haircut, Wedding, and a Seaplane

Hi Friends!

This will be another "farwell for now" post! I'm heading to British Columbia to do some boating with my dad, and this will be my first seaplane adventure! From where we live, we see them take of about 30 times a day, but I've never before had an excuse to book a ticket. That's happening tomorrow, and today I had a lovely breakfast with Nate at our favorite breakfast spot. Now I will be getting a haircut with the lovely Connie and then Janet and Kevin's wedding! So excited! I love weddings (and vacations!)

As for the clothes . . . I am always looking for a way to make my t-shirts and jeans a bit more fashion forward. I love this top from Anthropolgie. It mixes jersey with silk, so it looks dressier but is super comfy. These skinny, stretchy jeans are from Urban Outfitters. I'm not sold on them yet. All in all a comfortable outfit for a lot of sitting then errand running.

Have a lovely weekend everyone!

Mimi

Hello Friends!

This beautiful woman is my grandmother, Mimi. Her real name is Dorothy Louise or "Dotty" for short. She is my mother's mother and my last living grandparent. She is one of the most special people in my life. From her I inherited my love of fashion, food, drinking, and laughing (and probably some stubbornness, too). My grandpa, Poppop, took this picture outside their apartment in Hollywood where they lived in the 1950s.

This weekend I will visit her along with my brothers and dear friends Katherine and Sandy. The time I spend with my Mimi is so precious and of course limited by geography, budgets, and time. This trip we are going to sort through her massive collection of gorgeous vintage clothing, and I will be selling some of it on Etsy. Sorting through her memories, whether in the form of photographs, clothing, or words reminds me that who I am today started long ago.

Happy Weekend!

Black and Blue and Brown

Hi Friends!
Hope you all had a lovely weekend!

what:
Top, Target
Trousers, Vintage, thrifted
Belt, Thrifted
Shoes, Vintage, thrifted
Earrings, Made by me
Clutch, Vintage Eel Skin

why:
After a long night of taking care of a sick puppy and a boring day of watching him sleep and recover, Nate and I needed to get out. We had dinner, saw a movie, and met up with friends for a drink. I am loving the high waisted, pleated trousers lately. Something comfortable that is easy to throw a sweater over in a cold theater is perfect in my mind!

the scoop:
I have been thrifting up a storm recently! I love it when I find a pair of pants just like the ones I almost bought at Nordstroms for $5.99! It feels good to know that I am buying something that's "recycled." I have also decided that it is high time I started making some of my own jewelry. I am hoping to learn more of the basics ASAP.

Happy Monday!

Hi there!

This outfit is a typical Saturday afternoon outfit. We were headed south to have dinner with my parents at a restaurant where throwing food (peanut shells) on the floor is appropriate! While I love to get dressed up and put together more elaborate ensembles, I love a simple sweater and button up with jeans. It feels so fresh and relaxed to me!

What do you like to wear on the weekends?
Does it tend to be more simple, or do you make your weekend wear fancier that during the week?

Ravish

Hello Friends!

This weekend was lovely here in Seattle! The sun was finally shining and it was actually kind of hot! Lots of eating, drinking, gardening, and dog walking happened! I managed to cross off most of my "to-do list," and still see friends and family! I love when that happens!

On Friday I had the joy of eating at Ravish in our little neighborhood of Eastlake. It started as a happy hour with some favorite girl friends and some how turned into late night dining with my favorite husband. If you are in Seattle and you haven;t had a chance to grab one of the many delicious, seasonal plates ravish has to offer, you need to get over there! Monica said it was "very Kate Spade like" in the restaurant. Cute place, great food, great wine, what's not to love?

Happy Weekend!

Hello Friends!

Happy Weekend to all of you! I am off to Portland to do some crafting, eating, and shopping with Meghan in Portland. Even though Portland is a mere three hours from Seattle, it feels like a real vacation. A vacation that only costs a tank of gas, love it!

I thought that you all might get a kick out of hearing some of the hilarious things my preschoolers say and some of the things I have to say to them. They are so candid. I love them for their frankness!

"Please take your carrot out of your armpit." said by me to little R, 3 years old

"You know "S" if you keep stepping on your sandwich it might taste like dirt." said by little E, 5 years old

"I have a little penis. My daddy has a big ol' penis." said by little R, 3 years old

"I don't have a dog anymore. He moved to Heaven." said by little L, 3 years old

"'S', I didn't like it when you hit me with you train. It's not kind to hit people with trains, ya know." Said by F, four years old to S, three years old

 Enjoy your weekend!

Have a Happy Weekend!

Hello Friends!

We are off to the Cascades this weekend to read, relax, unplug, and be with people we love (since some of them are moving far away). This picture below is the bunk house at Wild Sky Farm. I love its weathered wood and cloudy windows. Beautiful in its own way.

These ballet flats are beautiful in their own way too! Wouldn't they be perfect with skirts for spring?!

See you all in Monday!

You Wore What?

Hi there!
Here's a little bit the who, what, wear, from the weekend!

Friday: To See Avatar
My favorite movie theater in Seattle, the Cinerama, is playing Avatar, and I finally succumbed to my husband's pleas to see it with him. Conclusion: It was really good! It was just to pretty! Might be worth seeing, ladies!

Since we were seeing an action movie, I wanted to feel edgy. Here is a photo of what came together. It's hard to tell from the picture, but the red lipstick I was wearing really make the outfit for me!

Jacket: Limited, thrifted
Pants: Nordstroms
Layering Tanks: Banana Republic
Scarf: Gift
Shoes: Paolo
Bag: Balenciaga

Saturday:
To Spend time with Meghan, eating, and shopping in Portland
Since it's a three day weekend, I thought I'd hop down to visit a best friend in Portland. This picture is rather ridiculous and was taken for my Flickr 365 Day Project. It does paint the picture of a "rainy day in the PNW" outfit. Lots of layers, coat, (boots you cannot see), and warm scarf.
In the Lue by you..
Sweater: Banana Republic
Layering Tops: Express, and boutique in Soho
Pants: JBrand
Scarf: Gap
Bag and Coat: Vintage

Saturday Night:
Dinner with Meghan @ Navarre & Out in Northeast Portland
(see pictures below)
We love to get fancified and treat ourselves to yummy food and lots of wine!
Navarre was delicious, and cozy. It's bustling but relaxed staff are fun and definitely added to the homey atmosphere.

I really loved this outfit!  It felt comfy and sexy at the same time. Is that possible? The skirt I've had for year, but the rest of the pieces are relatively new. I wish you could see the fluffy ruffles and gold threading on the blouse. Once again, the red lipstick really made the outfit for me!

Sweater: Etagere, Nordstroms
Blouse: Anna Sui for Target, thrifted
Skirt: Maddy M, Nordstroms
Tights: Target
Shoes: Paolo
Earrings; F21

You Wore What?

Hi there!
1/9/09

I've been inspired by a favorite fashionista, Second Skin! I love how many of her posts show you different ways to wear the same outfit! See what I came up with below...

This outfit was perfect for running errands on a cold (but dry!) Saturday! I love flannel and I have been wearing a lot of knee sock-boots combinations lately. The amazing, comfy, gray sweater is what I would have worn, had I been hanging out at home. It is from Quiksilver Women. Check them out they go way beyond board shorts and flip flops! The skirt, also from Quiksilver Women, made the outfit a little more flirty than the jeans I had on at first... When I left the house I wore my favorite vintage trench, a recent Etsy purchase. I think I might re-wear this cozy outfit later this week!

Flannel: vintage, thrifted
Belt: thrifted
Socks: Target
Boots: Sam Edelman, Nordstroms
Gray Sweater: Quiksilver Women
Grandfather Sweater: Gap
Trench: Vintage Etienne Aigner, Etsy
