Mother's Day

Hi Friends!
I'm back!

 Adam, Me, Mom, and Stephen

Katherine, Sandra, Mom, and Me

Oldest Best Friend, Katherine!

What:
Dress, Anthropologie
Belt, Scarf from Anthropologie
Shoes, Seychelles via Nordstroms
Brooch, via Irvine Flea Market (more on that later!)

Why:
We always go to the Hyatt in Huntington Beach for brunch on either Mother's Day or Easter. It is my idea of Heaven - sun, beach, an endless stream of bloody marys and mimosas, family . . . I did have a wrap in case it got cool, but really it was so sunny and warm, I did not need it! I really wanted to wear this flowy sundress from Anthropologie. The sash that it came with was kind of boring, so I tried a floral scarf and ended up really liking it!

I have more fun posts from the trip and some outfits featuring treasures from my Mimi's closet. I cannot wait to get her Etsy store up and running!

Happy Midweek!

So Warm!

Hello Friends!

I know the thermometer barely reached 60 today, but it felt so warm! I love when spring finally pops up, such a surprise after being so cold last week! I'm officially done with winter wear. I am pushing forward with spring even though it is still six days away. This outfit kind of sums up spring in the northwest. Layers for the ever changing temperature, trench coats add just the right amount of warmth, bright colors after wearing so much black and grey all winter.

I hope you all had a lovely weekend and a pleasant Monday!

Check back on Wednesday for another installment of "Fashion for a Cause!"

Hello Friends!

TGIF! Why is is that some weeks just drag on and on and on?! I love Friday even if it is raining and cold. This outfit was inspired by the lovely Ellenitza and her gorgeous, simple style. I really love these pants, which I picked up on a marathon Goodwill hunt. This H&M top was also picked up on the same trip. It still had the tags on it! I realized that I never write where I wear the outfits, but honestly, I usually wear them to work. This is officially the last weekend of winter! Hooray!

A Little Bitter That I Need a Wool Coat in March!

Hello Friends!

As the title of this post says, I am very bitter! Growing up in Arizona, March meant spring was here! Warm weather was here to stay, and the coats (if you owned any) went to the back of the closet for a long summer's sleep! I love Seattle. I love my coats, but really?! Snow? in Seattle? in March? Ridiculous! I hope that Mother Nature is playing an early April Fool's joke on us! This may be the last winter-y post of the season as I am forging ahead with spring no matter the weather!

A Woman's Touch in a Man's World

Hello Friends!

I hope everyone had a bearable Monday! I've really been wanting to wear menswear lately, and I have been playing around with some different looks. It is hard for me to wear the outfits I dream up to work, because I spend most of my time with children under five. Short skirts, heels, and delicate fabrics do not mix with small children. Today I bit the bullet and wore heels for my longest day of the week. 'Happy to say it worked out well!

I actually thrifted most of these pieces. Well I guess three of the five. The pants are from the 80's. I love them not only for their elastic waist, but they are so roomy. The top is actually from the mens dept at Goodwill, and the shoes were are total score for $3.99! I threw on a sparkly belt to add some sass and bring all the pieces together.

How are you wearing the menswear look?

Oh! And be sure to check back tomorrow for another amazing group of people who are making a difference through fashion!

PS Sorry for the lame indoor pictures, but the "wintry mix" (in March!!) kept me from going out.

Casual Friday

Hello Friends!

I hope that everyone had a lovely weekend! Ours was relaxing, unproductive, and oh so pleasant.
These pictures are from Friday when the sunshine had my preschoolers and me working in our garden. We're going to grow some veggies this year!

PS: I failed at the hair doing challenge thing. I am going to accept the fact that I am pretty boring when it comes to hair fashion. I am ok with that.

Hello Friends!

Happy Friday to all of you! I hope this has been a good week! Several pieces of good news (finally!) have come down the wire, and I am a bit giddy at the new prospects! More on that soon!

In the meantime, the smell of blossoms is everywhere, and the sunlight feels warm and inviting!

I like the idea of wearing neutrals in this interim period between frigid winter and full blown, warm, glorious spring! I know many of my fellow bloggers are feeling the same way. It just doesn't seem right to wear salmon and canary quite yet. These pants are a first for me; I've never tried to wear 80's style pants before. I really like them! They actually have an elastic waist that makes then super comfortable while a bit granny-ish. I'm ok with that! I wish I could say I embellished the sweater, but alas, it is from JCrew. I do have more crafitness in mind. I just need to find the time! These are my favorite Goodwill shoes, and a simple woven belt rounds ties in the browns. I feel great in this outfit!

Back to Black

Hi Friends!

A quick outfit post since today's post was really about Krochet Kids (see post below)!
I wanted to branch out and wear something other than blue and grey, but I was right back to black! Oh well. I like what I like. I spiced it up with one of my favorite vintage pieces, a faux leopard coat! I also wore my black pearls that Nate got me way back when we were still dating. I never wear them, but they are so beautiful. I really should wear them more.  For hair, I tried out the really high bun I have been seeing around blogs and lookbooks lately. I think I failed. My is more of lopsided ballet dancer's bun than the chic "top knot." I have to try, try again!

Happy Wednesday everyone!

red, grey, and blue

Hello Friends!

I hope that everyone survived their Mondays! I was literally counting the minutes until I would be home, in my pajamas, eating pasta and drinking wine! I had a totally different outfit planned for today, something more professional and involving heels. However, I somehow injured my foot while walking with Janet and Lori yesterday. So today, Keds were in order.

Furthermore, I want you all to know, I love red. I do not really like pink. I mean I do not really like to wear pink. I realize I wear quite a lot of red, grey, and blue. I think when I tried to limit by black loving self, I ended up in another color rut. Time for another color revolution, maybe? But for today, I chose my clothes in a hurry and these pieces are favorites of mine, a sweater covered in buttons and ribbons (two of my favorite things), jeans, my lovely red coat, and a tuxedo blouse from high school (10 years ago!).  For my second week of "Hair Wear, " I attempted to pin it all over to one side. I curled it and bobby pinned it over. It was pretty easy (about 10 min total), looked great from the front, sloppy from the back, and lasted all day. I think I'll try it again soon.

And finally, I want to let you all know that I will be starting my posts about people who are using fashion to better our little planet tomorrow. I know of a wonderful little company started by adorable surfers (they will kill me for calling them adorable!) that is helping displaced women in Uganda . . . more on that tomorrow! But they are awesome! Come back and learn about these amazing guys!

Our little puppy, Buffett, would not get out of the shot!

Relaxed

Hello Friends!

I hope everyone had a lovely weekend! Relaxing pretty much sums up our weekend. Not a chore was done! This outfit pretty much sums up relaxed to me. I have been seeing scarves everywhere, and really wanted to start wearing the lovely ones I own. The blue shirt is a men's shirt. When I tried it on, I button the top few buttons and thought, "Oh it totally fits!" When I got home I realized (as I should have already known) that men's shirts don't account for women's hips. Oh well. I like the shirt anyways! The hair was a take on a Coach ad I saw last week. It was perfect for less than perfect hair and added some color to the outfit!

In other news . . . I went to Goodwill to take a peak, spent two hours and $50, and found many wonderful items the favorite of which is a pair for adorable Cynthia Steffe pants for $2.50! Their a bit springy, so I'll have to wait to wear them, but oooh! They are so great!

Happy Monday all!
